Welcome to The Webs We Weave

Hi, I'm Michelle. The Webs We Weave is a newsletter devoted to writing into uncertainty and exploring unexpected connections. Here you’ll find research-driven personal essays that weave together lived experience with fascinations and sharp-toothed questions—and tangle with questions of identity, connection, and womanhood.

The more I write, the less interested I become in rehashing what I already know.

I’ve found the work that brings me the most satisfaction to write are the pieces that drag me into unknown territory—or at least, draw me into the fertile gaps between certainties, and push me to jump in without knowing where they’ll lead.

If writing furiously into our fascinations and experience is how we come to understand the world (and ourselves) more clearly, and craft is what makes the words sing on the page, I believe bringing the two together is how we can create something truly transformative—for both the writer and the reader.

If you’re someone who gets a thrill from exploring the threads of your life and making unexpected connections—and if you're curious about how writing can be a tool for deeper discovery beyond documenting what happened—welcome home.

If you have the means and the desire to support this publication, I’d invite you to become a paid subscriber for $6/month—or the discounted rate of $40/year.

Each month, free subscribers get:

  • One cornerstone essay đŸȘ¶ that blends research and personal narrative to explore questions like: How do we conserve our wildness as we age? What happens when we reclaim the anger we've been conditioned to suppress? How do we hold on to what matters while learning to let go?

  • One "Process Window" post đŸȘŸ that invites you into my writing practice, offering glimpses into how these essays come together and gentle prompts to spark your own exploration

  • One "Creative Compost" roundup 🐛 featuring reading recommendations I’ve been appreciating and metabolizing lately to feed my creative process, along with seedling ideas that are sprouting as a result

Coming soon for paid subscribers

In the coming months I'll be creating more opportunities for those who want to develop their own practice of "writing to uncover" in community with others. I'm working on crafting experiences that will guide you through excavating potent memories, pulling on the threads of your fascinations, and weaving them together to reveal unexpected connections and new layers of meaning. I’m excited to share more in the coming months!

This isn't necessarily about becoming a "writer" in the capital-W sense, if that’s not what you’re after. It's about discovering how the process of writing itself can be a doorway into revelation and deeper understanding, beyond what may be accessible through reflection or conversation alone.

About Me

I’m a writer and a certified iPEC coach. An only child, and an anxious bunny. A perpetual question-asker, Notion enthusiast, and obsessive re-watcher of my favorite shows.

After years writing on the internet about unlearning people-pleasing and embodying clear, kind, brave communication over at The Hearty Fig, I find myself hungry to return home to writing and explore connections between topics that don’t necessarily fit neatly inside the ‘unlearning people pleasing’ box
 which brings me here.

A deep and heartfelt thank you to every single subscriber, it means so much that you’re here.
